    Excavate with Confidence

LDR Excavate is the first-ever ground penetrating radar (GPR) integrated into the excavator’s digging bucket,
detecting underground utilities in real-time and alerting the operator during excavation.

This breakthrough solution enhances the safety and efficacy of digging, construction, and earthworks operations,
reducing the enormous costs and environmental impact associated with everyday accidental damage.

    Benefits & Advantages

Operators receive automatic alerts on buried utilities encountered during digging operations, in real time, before the utility is hit. A bucket with an integrated LDR technology can easily be
installed on any excavator, current or new, using industry standard interfaces and attachment systems.

The LDR Excavate can detect all types of pipes and utilities, including gas, power, communications, fiber-optics, water, sewage, oil and chemicals – in different soils and types of substrates.

    2. Type 2: 18” (45cm) or 24” (61cm), for 3.5-8.5 metric Ton machines
    3. Type 3: 24” (61cm) or 36” (92cm), for 8.5-16 metric Ton machines
    4. Type 4: 36” (92cm), for 20-30 metric Ton machines
    5. Type 5: 36” (92cm), for 30-40 metric Ton machines

The LDR uses GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) technology, sending RF waves into the ground. The system detects utilities by analyzing the reflection of these waves and applying the LDR proprietary automatic algorithms to identify utilities. The LDR detects any utility type using a unique algorithm to differentiate between utilities and other objects in soil, as reflected in the radar image data.

Yes, through any soil type, condition and utility characteristics may affect performance.

The LDR is aimed at providing alerts for buried utilities in ‘the next digging bite’.

Penetration depth ranges from 5″ to 10″ (12.5 cm to 25.4 cm) depending on utility type, soil type and soil conditions (e.g. moisture level).

Adopt the “Peeling the Onion” method, before and during excavation:
Scan; based on results remove (Dig) a layer; Continue with caution and repeat based on actual results, taking into consideration jobsite conditions.

Yes! The system can be moved between compatible machines if the platform kit is installed.

RodRadar provides a 2 years’ standard limited warranty. The full warranty document is available at RodRadar or certified dealers. The LDR bucket was designed to last similarly to any other general purpose (GP) buckets. Its lifetime will depend on usage. Additionally, The LDR system and its components are waterproof and are protected from reasonable level of exposure to water (rain/snow); is this the language we used?
Yes! The LDR bucket functions as a standard General Purpose (GP) bucket, and was designed to sustain the harsh excavation environment. Note it is, however, not intended for demolition.
